I've been converting VHS vids to modern video formats with limited success. The VHS format was pretty low grade to begin with. Recording and converting to the computer presented other issues. Downsampling for the web muddied the images and audio synchronization issues cropped up. Despite these technical difficulties, the personalities and performances of the cast are crystal clear.
Postscript: I had to make separate web pages for the work and family vids. Let's just say that things were much less politcally correct back then and we were all a bit unfiltered especially after a couple of beverages. Given this, I'm very selective as to who sees this page.
I took Dad's video camera to work one day. Here's some footage of the Balmar crew at the Balmar Tysons 1984 Chain Bridge Road plant.
This was from a party for Elise before she left Balmar. We behaved nicely for the most part however I cut the Noriega assassination videos by BB gun held later with the guys in the basement. Maybe I'll add that later.
O.K. At this party, the gang was simply out of control. I hadn't seen this video in decades and almost peed my pants when I converted it. I remember having to rehang a sliding pantry door the next morning. It was a casualty from a feisty game of Pin the Wart on the Witch.
We would dress up for Halloween at work. Here are some frames from the Balmar Tyson's plant gang at the Balmar Tyco Road plant. I can't remember if I was the Manager (the clown) or Lisa (the nurse) during this time period. I still refer to Molly (the cow and Art Director) as Mooley. John (Beavis/Butthead) was one of our stellar artists in the department.
